Training & Development
Through our initial induction program and our ongoing continious training we will prepare and equip you with all the skills and knowledge you require to confidently fulfil your role as a live in carer or Personal Assistant (PA).
We will work with you to continuously develop and enhance your skills as your role progresses. This may include additonal NVQ’S, City & Guilds qualifications, and specialist training in areas of disabilities, conditions and work pratices.
Training Induction
As a new carer you will embark on our 5 day training program at our offices in Macclesfield. The week will consist a mixure of pratical hands on and classroom theory training.
You are given prently of time to work through the training, ask questions and to discuss the training in hand within a relaxed atmosphere. Our training induction is not a test, but an opportunity to widen your care skills and knowledge within a learning environment.
Your induction week will cover a range of training areas such as:
- Moving & handling.
- Food Hygiene.
- First Aid.
- Nutrion & Diet.
- Person centred care.
- Infection control.
- Medication Administration.
- CosHH.
Your training and development dosen’t simply stop after your initial weeks induction. It is an ongoing process of learning and discovery as your career progresses. We annually review your training and we will work with you to identify areas of development and training that we feel may benefit and help you.
We actively encourage further learning and will always support you if you wish to further advance your career development at Homecare UK.
NVQ’s & City & Guilds

As a carer you will be given the opportunity to obtain both NVQ level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in care while in employment as a live in carer.
We are very proud to be working in partnership with Macclesfield College and the Train to Gain scheme to help us to deliver our care NVQ training and assessment for both our live in and hourly carers.
NVQ’s (National Vocational Qualifications) are work based qualifications that are awarded by evidence based techniques and the ongoing assessment of your daily role as a carer in the work environment.
Specialist Care Training
You may as part of your induction or at a later stage undergo specific training in areas such as Dementia, Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis and other conditions that effect the lives of the service users and families you care for.
Our specific training packages will be a mixture of classroom and pratical based training either at our offices in Macclesfield, the college, or a home based course via a distance learning program.
Specific conditions training helps you to deliver care and understand that relates directly to those in your care.
